Our credit teams review financial and other related information to prepare packages for commercial loan requests across a broad range of agricultural commodities in Florida.  Under the supervision of a senior credit manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for preparing clear and concise analyses that address Association underwriting standards as well as adhering to our policies and procedures.  With training and experience, he or she will recommend appropriate structures and loan controls to minimize risk to the organization.

To qualify, candidates should have strong analytical and modeling skills with a keen focus on detail; strong written and verbal communication skills; a desire to learn and take on new challenges as well as time management skills.  Education requirements include a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics or agriculture.  A background in agriculture or agricultural lending experience is an added plus.

The Internet of Things for Precision Agriculture's (https://IoT4Ag.us) stakeholder engagement project, led by Dr. Katie Stofer, is seeking a communication technician for summer 2024, starting approximately June 1. The applicant should be available until at least the end of the summer 2024 semester (approximately August 15). Continued employment through the Fall may be available.

The position: We are currently developing products to engage different stakeholders (youth and adults) to increase the agriculture workforce and the adoption of on-farm internet infrastructure. The communication technician will promote and produce webinars, flyers, and other educational products. Most work can be done remotely, but technicians must be able to participate in person for workshop days in Gainesville and Cooperative Extension events through North Florida. Transportation is provided from Gainesville when we need to travel to an Extension event (travel time is paid).

The Department of Agricultural & Biological Engineering (ABE) at Mississippi State University (MSU) invites applications for a tenure track, 9-month, assistant professor position in agricultural/biosystems engineering. Applicants should be clearly committed to excellence in teaching and be able to articulate a prospective research program that has promise for sustainable external funding and national recognition. Candidates with experience and expertise in all areas of agricultural/biosystems engineering will be considered, but strength in sensors, analytics, and mechatronics for autonomous systems and precision agriculture are particularly desirable.

Candidates will be expected to teach in the Biosystems Engineering (BSE) and Agricultural Engineering Technology and Business (AETB) curricula, conduct research, and advise undergraduate and graduate students. They must establish a strong record of research, teaching, and service.

As cutting-edge research in robotics and AI reaches the stage where widespread deployment is feasible, issues around safety, dependability and trustworthiness become ever more critical. Emerging applications need robotics to be certifiable, reliable, and capable of interacting safely with users and their environments. While AI methods are finding increasing adoption within robotics, much of this technology was not originally designed with safety and other important human-centred requirements in mind.

The UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training in Dependable and Deployable AI for Robotics (CDT-D2AIR) will train students in the latest methods in AI, verification, design, and robotics, while also ensuring that students have the technical skills to develop and deploy safe robotic systems. CDT-D2AIR's innovative 4-year PhD programme combines training in state-of-the-art robotics, machine learning, optimisation, and software engineering, with verification and testing."

We are looking for a Postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the field of process-based crop modelling for estimating climate impacts and derive adaptation measures for agriculture. Working together with PIK, universities, research institutes, international organizations, we aim to publish findings in high impact journals and transform research into user-oriented climate services and policy transfer that enables stakeholders to better adapt to climate change in the field of agriculture.

Responsibilities:

• Conception, implementation and evaluation of research work in the field of climate impact assessment in agriculture. The focus areas will depend on the interests and ideas of the applicants as well as the project specifications.
• Co-development of a process-based framework for estimating the proportion of observed agricultural production losses attributable to climate change, taking into account a range of climate hazards.
• Preparation and analysis of historical and counterfactual climate data without climate change, for example from the ISIMIP or CMIP6 projects, for selected case studies.
• Application of process-based crop models using the described climate data with the aim of determining the proportion of crop losses attributable to changes in the mean climate or to extreme climate and weather events.
• Coordinate and contribute to the implementation of research projects through close collaboration with other researchers at the University of Kassel, PIK and stakeholders.
• Writing and publishing articles in peer-reviewed journals highlighting the results of research projects and presenting research findings at international conferences.
• Liaising and maintaining communication with project sponsors, responding to requests for information, preparing project progress reports and strategy papers.
• Support with data collection and analysis.
• Supporting the department in the area of teaching
• Managing projects, developing new project proposals and applying for funding.

Requirements:

• You have a Master's degree in one of the following fields: agricultural science, agricultural economics, geography, environmental science, climate science or similar. If a doctorate has been completed, there is the possibility of a habilitation. The required degree must be available by the recruitment date
• Solid understanding of climate influences on yield formation. Experience in working with process-based yield models.
• Have experience or interest in process-based crop modelling or related climate impact modelling.
• You have solid knowledge of statistics, programming skills in R or Python. You are familiar with large data sets and corresponding file formats (e.g. NetCDF).
• You have strong analytical skills and excellent scientific writing skills, excellent communication skills and are fluent in written and spoken English.
• You are able to work independently, goal-oriented and autonomously.
• Experience in project management and research proposal writing is an advantage.
